Being at home does not necessarily mean you are safe from danger.  I am a big fan of the strategies in which you shelter-in-place.  Doing so exponentially increases the likelihood that you will survive a disaster related incident.  There are a few things that we recommend you have available to you in your home disaster kit.  
1. Personal Safety Items 
You should have at your quick disposal the tools necessary to protect yourself during a home invasion.  This should include you keeping self-defense tools on you if possible.  If that is not possible or comfortable . . .
