As Coronavirus Cases Surge, Store Shelves Empty a Second Time

As we head into the winter months and our typical flu season, it’s not surprising to hear that more people are becoming ill. But the increase in Covid-19 infections has health professionals warning against celebrating the holidays with family, and a surprising number of products are disappearing from shelves for a second time this year.

As more Americans transition into working and schooling from home, manufacturers and retailers are struggling to anticipate demand on a variety of products. Supply chains also face significant interruptions when employees fall ill and must quarantine for up to two weeks.
